W/Rt VwK Totem Axe Farming
I've experimented with a few Totem Axe farming builds but this is currently my favorite.

Stat Distribution: 12 Strength, 12 Restoration Magic
Equipment: Any Longbow, full Radiant/Attunement armor (although you can swap one Attunement for a minor Strength)
The run is fairly simple if you know the route. Most people do so I'm not going to bother posting an image example. This build is capable of killing a fair amount of enemies encountered although it's not necessarily time-feasible. Your primary targets are the Root Behemoths and Wind Riders (which, with practice and timing, can be overcome).
Run to the known spawning points of your friendly neighborhood Root Behemoths, but don't get too close! Popping the Life Pods does not necessarily mean that your hopes of killing a particular Root Behemoth are shattered, but it is not recommended period. This is what your long bow is for. Stand as close to the Root Behemoth as you can without entering the Life Pod's aggro radius and plink the Behemoth once. Take a step back, hit Signet of Stamina (it would have been nulled considering you attacked), and then use VwK and spam Vengeful Weapon as much as possible. It usually takes in the area of two casts of VwK to drop one Behemoth but on occasion can be accomplished in one.
After you kill a Behemoth, move on. Even if there are two Root Behemoths separate by only one aggro radius, it is possible to kill both. Although you may aggro the Life Pods from the previous Behemoth, it is very rare that they will run in front of you to heal the next one you engage. It's very simple, and very effective.
Now, assuming you can't get close enough to a Root Behemoth to plink it with your longbow (this often happens on sloping terrain) and you do pop the Life Pods, the typical strategy is to run backwards and make them follow you until they're about 1.5 aggro bubbles away from their allied Root Behemoth. Once they are far enough away, turn around and make sure you keep the Life Pods and Root Behemoth separated by standing in between them. Ideally you want the Life Pods to be on the very edge of your aggro bubble behind you, and you want the Root Behemoth to be on the very edge of your aggro bubble in front of you. Casting VwK and spamming Vengeful Weapon like this more often than not will keep the Life Pods too occupied healing themselves (because they attack you too, and you will life-steal from them) to move forward and heal the Behemoth. It is in this that makes combating a Root Behemoth even when the Life Pods have spawned, entirely possible, without having the kill the Life Pods before-hand, like so many melee-centered builds would have you do.
Of course, sometimes the Life Pods do manage to sustain themselves AND heal the Root Behemoths, in which case, it is probable that you won't be able to kill the Behemoth and it would be in one's best interest to just move on.
Combating the Wind Riders is a different story. Your primary intention here is to get all of their attacks synchronized so that you can effectively time your skills so they wont be interrupted. Of course, this is not always possible, so in some cases you may have to draw out their interrupts by baiting them with Generous Was Tsungrai and Mend Body and Soul, being that they are the two longest casting spells that aren't entirely required for this build to be effective in killing enemies. This is more of a trial-and-error endurance where you attempt to learn their behavior and over time can predict when they will or will not interrupt. But generally speaking, if they interrupt VwK twice in a row it would be in your better interest to wait for a bit of energy regen, hit Sprint, and run away, then try your luck again. Although Forgotten Fans aren't worth a particularly large sum of money, they are still an easy 1-2k.
VwK ftw.
